Casual | Ritual is a bi-monthly gathering for those interested in connecting through conversation, spirituality, and self-development. Once a month, we bring in a guest practitioner for our community to experience.

Have you heard the notion: the body keeps the score? It speaks to the reality that any time we experience a perceived threat (which can be as innocent as too many emails coming into our inbox), the experience creates an energetic charge in our body, which often gets stored as tension. Over time, as our bodies become full of the tension of past experience, we literally become stuck. We become limited in our freedom to move in certain ways, to choose different responses to situations, and to get out of thought patterns that don't serve our wellbeing.

However, the body has a natural (and highly intelligent) mechanism for getting unstuck - for releasing accumulated tension and even diffusing the energetic charge of fight/flight/freeze responses before it even stores as tension. It's called therapeutic tremoring - and you have the ability to activate this mechanism at will, as needed, and on your own.

  • Gain a basic understanding of nervous system responses and how they impact everything we do.

  • Leave empowered with a go-to method for stress relief that you can self-administer anytime.

How to Prepare:

All you will need for class is a yoga mat and a small patch of wall that you can lean up against (even the back of a door will do if you know the door won't open up on you).

  • If possible, it's best to use a laptop so you can angle the screen throughout class for the instructor to see you properly. This is a "cameras on" practice - I will not be able to monitor and assist you if I cannot see you.

  • It's also preferable to be in a relatively quiet space so you can stay unmuted throughout class.
     

  • TRE can bring up emotions/energy that may need further time to metabolize after the workshop. We recommend scheduling free time afterwards to take good care of yourself with extra rest, nourishment, and grounding if possible.

  • Location: This will be a VIRTUAL workshop on Zoom.

This Circle centers the experience of women. It is open to all individuals who identify as women or align with the experience of women, including trans women and non-binary individuals who feel connected to this space.
